Four to six musicals in development will be presented in 20 minute work- in- progress extracts over one evening. You – the discerning audience – will be asked to give honest feedback on all of the extracts, with the view to how each can develop in the future. The Lowdown is a friendly event, so please stick around for a drink and a gossip afterwards!

Shows that have developed at The Lowdown have gone on to perform at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe, VAULT Festival, Metal Peterborough and the Phoenix Artists Club.

OUTWARD BOUND is a dark chamber musical set in the 1920s. It tells the story of a group of people travelling on a luxury cruise liner. As their journey progresses, each of the passengers realise they don’t know why or how they came to be there – or where they are bound. They gradually discover that they are, in fact, dead – ‘crossing over’ to the afterlife. But who will get to spend eternity in heaven? And who will be destined for hell?

Susanna Pearse’s catalogue includes shows for YMT, Singapore Repertory Theatre and Perfect Pitch

Tim Connor is the winner of the 2016 Stiles & Drewe ‘Best New Musical Theatre Song’. His work includes The Stationmaster and Heart of Winter.
